Golf Academy

Launched in 2015 to introduce new Lady players to the game, Blainroe Ladies Golf Academy has proven to be an outstanding success with 30 regular playing each week.

This Ladies Academy affords beginners and improvers an opportunity to play regular golf within an organised timeslot over 9 holes every week (approx. 48 weeks) during the year. It is the second step in perhaps becoming a regular player and for some participants, in time, to becoming members.

To become a member of the Academy you first MUST have participated in the Ladies Beginner 10 week programme.

The Academy is self-administering for both Competitions and Handicaps, and is run by a small committee under guidance from the Club.

  • Each player is entitled to play in the Academy tee-times, being a weekday or weekend 9-Hole round.
  • Play will take place on Thursday mornings from 09.00 -10.00am except in mid-summer July and August
  • In July and August these slots will take place on Friday mornings at the same time
  • Reserved slots will be held on the 10th tee or 1st tee as necessary
  • The Academy will provide a domestic group handicap (not ILGU) as players progress.
  • A 9-Hole Competition (with a small entry fee) may be organised each week
  • All players will check in weekly for the competition in the entry book outside the office
  • We operate a short timesheet where players go out in groups of three and play with other groups players on that day of similar ability.
  • Use of the Clubhouse everyday for casual dining will be included
  • Also use of the practice ground is included at off peak times primarily on weekdays
  • The maximum period for membership of the Academy will be two subscription years
  • The subscription year will begin on 1st January.
  • The annual subscription is €350.
  • A membership application form must be completed before acceptance by the Club
